"Get Good Get Better Be The Best"

Note from Diane: For some lucky people incredible self-belief comes at a very young age when they really believe they are the best at what they do. Often great success follows.

Often what you don’t see is that they have already dedicated more time than you would possibly believe training themselves to be the best in their field of choice.

Mastering anything takes time and a considerable amount of that time is spent training to get good.

Training even more to get better.

And training, learning and applying to be the best.

It’s simple to see it in a sports person it’s obvious how many hours they train to get that physique but in a business it’s not quite so obvious. 3

So what do you have to do to get good, get better and be the best?

"Get Good Get Better Be The Best"

1. Get Good At Learning From Experts In Your Niche

There is a famous saying that “every master was once a beginner” and that my friend is the only place to start.

You have to go into your subject of choice as a beginner and learn something then apply it.

Now in the beginning you may well apply it badly.

But when you do things over and over again you tend to improve and then as you improve, guess what?

You get GOOD at it.

There has never been a better time to accelerate your learning with access to social media, there are hours and hours of free mindset and business training at the touch of your finger tips! Seek them out and schedule them into your day.

2. Get Better By Doing The “Thing”

The only way you can get better at something is practise.

But you cannot practise something without actually doing the darn thing,

Theory doesn’t yield results, taking action does.

Your first blog posts / videos / Facebook posts / website etc won’t be your best but when you learn new things on a regular basis and start applying them, your expertise will start to show through because ..

You get BETTER at it, the more you do.

3. Being The Best Should Be Your Aim

My business mentor mentor once asked me, “Where are you aiming for with your business?”

I looked at him with a puzzled look.

He said, “Number 1?”

I said, I’ve never really thought about it quite like that. (I certainly didn’t feel like I was number 1 in my niche at the time)

So then he said, “Well if we aren’t aiming to be number 1, what are we aiming at? Number 2? 10? 100? – stop me when you’re comfortable!”

So left feeling rather lacking in ambition at this point, I have never set about building a business again without aiming for being the best.

You shouldn’t either.

Someday someone really will beat Usain Bolt in the 100 metres.

Someone out there is training right now aiming to be the best in your niche.

Why not let that person be you?

I’ll leave the final thoughts to Will Smith …

  • 1. You can only get good when you take on the responsibility of training yourself to be good.
  • 2. You can only get better by constantly raising your standards and applying yourself to the tasks you set yourself.
  • 3 Aim at being the best in your field. Expertise creeps up on you when you least expect it.
  • 4. Work as hard on yourself and your mindset as you do on your business.
